General Rules
Be chill, this is a small group and I expect everyone to be respectful to each other. Any problems should be settled outside the group. If you don’t respect each other then you will be removed.
This is an LGBTQ+ friendly space. Homophobia, transphobia, racism, or bigotry has no place here and will not be tolerated.
This group is not open to the public, invitation is via friend referral only. If you would like to invite someone, please PM Rogue on Discord.
'Grace Period' Because of time zones, and just life in general. Everyone has a 24 hour grace period for handing art in. You do not have to ask for that.
If you need an 'Extended Grace Period' an extra week or so because of work, school, or well just life in general. PM Rogue!
No heavy gore or uncensored sexual content. (Blood and bruises are fine.)
Earning Pokémon Dollars
Pokémon Dollars (Pokédollars or PD) can be earned from submitting 'General Art Submission' & completing prompts. If a prompt has an additional PD reward it will state it!
You may submit one 'General Art Submission' a day.
You can submit as many 'Prompt Submissions' as you can complete.
Collabs? Let me know who you collab with, the PD reward will be halved between you both & each of you may choose a Pokemon reward if one is available.
Collabs can be between 3 people max on prompts, but in general submission it is unlimited. Do a master collab if you wish. After 3 people though you can only include up to 9 eggs per picture, so no getting cheeky, and doing some crazy master egg-hatching collab picture.
How is Art Calculated? Please use the Noctulator to see more information!
Bases? You may not use bases unless you create it yourself, I will only permit base use for 'outfits' & 'Pokemon designs.' You will only be rewarded the PD for a base once.
-400 PD if you use a base.
For outfits: PD - Simple outfits: 200 PD Each, Detailed Outfits: 500 PD Each.
You may use a base on your application art!
(Note: If we mess up the math at all, please feel free to mention it in the 'Help' channel in Discord and we can fix it. I'm sure we'll miss Pokémon occasionally.)
Creating a Trainer
Your first trainer is free! After that, you must purchase future slots at the 'General Store'
Starter Pokémon are chosen from a pre-selected list, once you choose a starter that Pokémon is soulbound to you. You cannot trade it.
Trainers must choose to be part of the Darkclaw, Augurmaw, Faewether, or Umberthorn house at Dusk Academy. If you would prefer to be not part of the school and its magical activities then you can also choose to be a Townie.
Change your mind on a character? Don't feel as attached to them as you thought you would? That's okay, you can purchase the 'Exchange Student Card' in the General Store. You may either choose to keep the original soulbound Pokémon they started with or exchange it for a new one as well.
If you in the future decide you want to bring that original trainer back with their original Pokémon you may, they will keep their original levels - but it is up to you to remember what those were. (Or check the log<3)
Eggs
Eggs Are primarily obtained from the Daycare Center.
Eggs require 5 pictures to hatch. Mods will do their best to track this in your inventory.
Some Eggs will have special requirements! Read their descriptions to find out what you need to do.
Eggs that have custom art associated with them could take an additional 1-2 weeks to hatch. This completely depends on the mod's free time. Please be patient <3
Pokémon
How many Pokémon can you own? Unlimited!
Pokémon earn levels by being featured in art. You may level up to 6 Pokémon per art piece.
+3 Levels for a Pokémon every time they are featured in an art piece.
+5 Levels for a Pokémon using an ability/move. (Mod blindness happens with abilities, please state you are using an ability if you are farming for more levels!)
Speaking about abilities and moves, what can your Pokémon use? We go by Anime Rules here in Noctowl Vale. If it makes sense for the picture, your Pokémon can use that move! I am not going to check the legality of your Pokémons abilities.
Gender is your choice. A mod will assign a random gender to your Pokémon, but feel free to edit it in your inventory.
Pokémon Evolution
Given all the varieties of Pokémon out in the world (and to a lesser extent, Noctowl Vale) there are many ways they evolve into their stronger forms. While science and magic have made forcing evolution an option, the more traditional methods are still strong contenders for use.
Many Pokémon naturally evolve by leveling up. Simply level your Pokémon to its corresponding level and take it to the evolution grove.
Some Pokémon evolve when they use a certain move. These Pokémon are also classified as level-up mons, but need an additional art piece of them using their signature evolution move to evolve.
An example would be the Pokémon, Aipom. Upon learning the move Double Hit it can then evolve into Ambipom. Simply level it up to level 33 to learn the move, and then draw a picture of your Aipom using the move Double Hit and submit at the evolution grove. (You may also submit it to general submissions for art credits too).
Please when you are submitting your art, specify that the Pokémon in it is using the move- you will get credited appropriately this way.
Some Pokémon require an item to evolve. Evolution Essentials has you covered- they sell a wide assortment of items to help your Pokémon evolve. Simply purchase the item necessary to evolve your Pokémon and then level your Pokémon to 15 to use said item.
Example:
Growlithe requires a fire stone to evolve into Arcanine. Buy the fire stone at Evolution Essentials and level your Growlithe to level 15. Draw a picture of your growlithe with the purchased fire stone and submit it to the evolution grove to evolve your Growlithe into Arcanine.
Some Pokémon evolve when they become your best friend! There is no level requirement for friendship Pokémon, but they must be drawn with your trainer 10 times to evolve. Please submit/link all 10 pictures in the evolution grove to evolve your Pokémon by friendship.
Some Pokémon evolve by walking around with you. For the purposes of this group, treat them as friendship evolutions. An example includes Pawmo into Pawmot.
Do you have a Pokémon with a Strange typing you wish to evolve? No problem! Strange typed Pokémon follow the same general evolution rules as their original counterparts. If they evolve by item, you will pick the item that's closest to their strange type.
Example:
If you have a Grass type Growlithe, you will use a leaf stone instead of a firestone to evolve it into the grass type arcanine.
Check their Noct-Dex page for more information!
If you have any confusion on what item you need to evolve your strange type mon, do not hesitate to ask! We are more than happy to help you find the right item to evolve your friend.
Say Hi to Sweetkerchief! She is going to be our volunteer for showing examples of how you can vary your pokemon form!
Pokémon Art
How you draw Pokémon can vary from its source material but try to keep them recognizable. Pokemon can be altered to be unique to their own personalities.
Your Pokémon can wear clothing items.
Pokémon with Seasonal Forms - I encourage you to draw your Pokemon matching the current season of the picture you are working on. This will not be strictly enforced though.
Ditto - Ditto Pokémon can be drawn transformed, but must keep the signature ditto face!
Zorua/Zoroak - You may use the illusion ability, you may make it as subtle or obvious as you want. You may add Zorua/Zoroak ears n tails if you'd like.
Houndooms - Houndooms, and Pokémon like them can have features added to them to make them more 'animal-like.' You may give Houndoom ears! (Another example: You can give Grafaiai pupils!)
